Triumph Day 2012

Triumph Day 2012
On the 21 March 2012 Triumph Motorcycles South Africa held the first official national Triumph Day at the Piston Ring Club in Modderfontein Gauteng. The main purpose being to gather together as many Triumph owners as possible and their friends for the first ever National RAT (Riders Association of Triumph) event. Dealers across the country hold numerous events throughout the year for their own RAT packs, but never before in South Africa have we had so many RATs in one place.
In true South African style the weather was great, the Spit braai was on and the beers were cold. To top it all off there was a seemingly endless stream of Triumph’s filtering through the gates. From very old to brand new there was something for everyone’s taste, a broad overview of the Brand itself.
Traditional Triumph had a custom sprayed Thunderbird and custom built Speedmaster on display. Holeshot Motorcycles gave everyone an introduction into off-road/adventure riding and Fast Bikes Polokwane stole the show with a custom built Scrambler for a very happy customer. A two man band created a wonderful atmosphere and there was even a special appearance from The King Himself – Elvis!
At around midday the time finally came for the “secret” unveiling. The stunned silence was deafening when the box was lifted and underneath it wasn’t the new Tiger 1200 Explorer everyone was expecting. Luckily (for Arnold I think) the Explorer was then brought out of the hall by Dennis Bilse of Traditional Triumph for everyone to scrutinize.
After a million photographs and inspecting every inch of the new Explorer and trying it out for size everyone settled down to having some lunch, listening to good music and browsing through the clothing sale.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed. A success in no uncertain terms and now we’ve set a standard for the next one!
